Canon SX10 IS Good
Here is the usual introduction.. This is a short hands-on review, and you won't see any technical charts here. Theresa and I love photography and shoot Canon dSLR, only because we've made a substantial investment in lenses. We currently (mostly) shoot with 30D and 40D bodies, and we know how to use our gear, but our priorities are creative possibilities, fun, and great memories. We put low noise at high ISO way before pixel count, and we love fast lenses that let us shoot with less noise at higher speed a.. |
Newtonville Camera & Video Great
There are obvious reasons why a local small business can't compete with the likes of Amazon.com, BUT there are also obvious reasons why we should support our local small businesses - and here is just one great example... Theresa and I were walking past the Newtonville Camera & Video store, and we recalled wanting to checked out the Canon SX10 for its video capabilities (I thought it could do HD 720p), especially compared to the Canon FS10 hi def video camera. So, we walked in and were able to test d |
Tokina 11-16mm, f2.8 Great
This is not one of those Sigma vs. Canon or whatever is better then this or that reviews, and you won't see any technical charts here. Flickr photo sharing Great
2,338 photos online at this time... I think that says enough about how
much I like to use Flickr! I have the "pro" membership for a wee $25 a
year, I think, and that allows unlimited uploads to their site. The
Flickr uploader is also available for many OS, including Ubuntu, so it is a perfect integration with Picassa ( http://picasa.google.com/ )
I can also spend hours looking at other people's public photos- amazing talent ! so don't browse if you don't have some time :-) |
Newtonville Camera & Video Good
I used to work next door to Newtonville Camera for 10 years in the 80's and know Paul, the owner is a true blue entrepreneur and very customer centric. Great selection of Prosumer and Professional equipment. However just to let you know I called them recently because I wanted to have my camera cleaned, and they do not offer this as a service, I was very surprised, seems it would be a great service to offer. |
Newtonville Camera & Video Great
Newtonville camera is a real, honest to goodness, family owned photography store. They have all levels and costs of equipment, and they have a dedicated staff of father, son, and others to answer any questions about your equipment, technique, or anything camera related. They also make prints, though I have not tried that aspect. They also have video and pro photography equipment for rent if you have a limited time task and don't want to buy the whole setup. Of course they have overhead and staff, so they.. |
Mpix Great
Mpix delivers quality prints with fast turnaround. I like that you can control the crop, choose from different papers, and from a wide range of sizes including square print options. Their website is not the easiest thing in the world to use, but a little persistence pays off. |
PhotoNotes.org - Canon EOS Beginners’ FAQ Great
There is a lot of well written information here. If you're just getting into SLR photography, or already have gear, but still not quite sure what all those numbers on the lens, camera and flash mean, you need to spend some time on this site. Even if you don't intend to go Canon, most of what you'll learn is universal to photography. |
UseFilm Great
Community site where amazing photographers gather to view each others work. Post your photos and others will critique if you want them too. If you need inspiration to take pictures, go no further than here. |
Chrissa Markos Photography Great
Highly recommended professional, exceptional services and references. |
The curse of the high megapixel cameras Great
This was an excellent summary of the issues with the modern superzoom. The suspects were: Olympus SP-560UZ, Fuji S800fd, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 Excerpted from DPREVIEW: " Oh dear, it's all gone a bit wrong for all three cameras at ISO
1600. The choice between the cameras is not so much about choosing the
one with the best image quality but choosing the method by which you
least mind your image being degraded. ...
Frankly you would have to be
in a charitable mood to put inclusion of these ISO 1600 m |
